Our mission is to produce, sponsor and host events that supplement and expand the cultural, social and economic life of the Midcoast community. For us, this also includes more than 200 town-sponsored meetings, events, and community gatherings per year. For more than a century, the Camden Opera House has been a first-class event venue in Midcoast Maine. This venue hosts a variety of events like live music performances, comedy shows, and seminars. The opera house is a community staple that brings the performing arts to Midcoast Maine’s locals and visitors at no charge. That’s right, all of the tickets to the shows at this venue are completely free.

While we work hard to keep you informed about the Midcoast community, how citizens cope and thrive, we need your help, too. Thanks to our readers and especially our supporters who help to keep PenBayPilot.com an open and accessible community hub. The opera house has been in operation since it was built in 1894. The beautiful venue has hosted everything from grand balls in the Victorian era, early 1900s silent movies with orchestra music and dancing, town hall meetings, and Firemen’s Balls in the ‘30s and ‘40s.

The building is a three-story historic brick structure and “Camden Opera House” appears above the arched doorway in gilded letters. Our very outspoken teenagers use their voices through dance to speak out about the events that have unfolded across the world this past year. With positivity, light, courage and willingness to grow, dancers rejoice and celebrate in the love and connection they have in this moment right now, and with one another. Visit  to see our upcoming events calendar, or learn how to rent the opera house for your event. Opening night, June 6, 1894 featured the Boston Opera Company’s performance of “Maritama,” a grand ball with music by the company orchestra, and dessert in the Banquet Hall.
